new and improved...

i started this painting in 2008 but have never been satisfied with it.. i've come close on several occasions to just painting over the whole thing and making something else. i recently however, decided to give it one last chance and made some significant modifications to this piece. i am finally happy with the color tone and overall mood of the painting. one of the main components of this painting is the rodent, an animal more typically viewed as dirty and worthless. the accompaniment of the tree and it's role in the painting however, are meant to be seen as symbols of growth and life. my intent of these is to convey a sense of hope in what is could be seen as more rough around the edges.
