WOMEN of the WORLD
in an attempt to bring light to women's rights/issues, i have begun a series of portraits of women all over the world. exact countries/origins of the women are not necessarily meant to be known by these portraits, but rather to show a solidarity of women of many backgrounds.
a while back i found this photo online and decided to recreate it in pencil. however, upon completing the drawing and doing some research on the photo, i found out that it was originally part of an art piece/series done by a woman named shirin neshat, so i must give credit to her. shirin neshat is originally from iran, but now lives in new york. her works explore issues of her native society, particularly women's rights.
